Our double room was cozy and compact, with a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom, in a great location in the charming old town.

Casual, clean and basic in a good central location for shops.
Breakfast room was a bit dark and grim - like an old train station waiting room. But it was fine and coffee and croissants were good.

To go to musee des automates it will take you 10 min walking. I got free upgrade and appreciated it.

During my one-night stay, this place provided a lovely breakfast with a variety of fresh food items, and I had a great time and would definitely return in the future.

The Comfort Hotel François 1er is a 2-star hotel, so you get the usual 2-star trappings - rattling door handles, slightly grimy walls, small bedrooms (but the basic amenities were there and once we fixed the shower fittings it was all good). Fair enough! But, the staff were excellent and very attentive from the moment we arrived until we left. The François is in an excellent location in the old city, close to the port and its restaurants, bars and shops (and these days a good sat-nav will guide you easily through the one way system to the hotel's address), and the secure courtyard parking meant we didn't have to unpack the car. We enjoyed a good continental buffet breakfast and were back on the road sans fuss!

This hotel is situated in the city centre, and has limited parking, it is therefore very convenient to all the facilities that La Rochelle offer. The parking facility is the main attraction of the hotel, which is situated in a quiet street, in a old building. As such repairs & maintainence always needs attention, and this hotel certainly does.We had a ground floor room, number 19, which was smallish, but adequate, the staff were first class, but the breakfast was very poor, little choice, and when compared with other hotels on this trip, and there were five, this was the least satisfying, but all charged 8 euro's per night, per person. If this hotel received the reguired attention, because of its location, it could increase its rating to 3 star, but it has some way to go.We have used this hotel group on other occasions, and our views on breakfast etc, has not fundementally changed. They appear fixed to a routine/price structure

Good location, on site secure parking very useful, especially during Francofolies when parking is at a premium.
Our room was a bit small but after all its only for sleeping in. No tea / coffee making

The room we booked was beautifully decorated and compact with fan, comfortable beds, a nice bathroom. The morning meal was comprehensive and great, including fresh bread, cereal, pastries, yoghourt and fruit: D

The location is excellent and is a short walk to the port along a shopping street. The staff were also nice and helpful.
The room was quite small but served us for our 2 night stay.
Tourists from South Africa often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
